RDR Exam Standards

Retail Distribution Review (RDR)

The Financial Services Authority (FSA) launched the Retail Distribution Review (RDR) in June 2006 with a primary aim of ‘improving consumer trust and confidence in the products and services supplied by the market'.

The objective of the FSP Exam Standards Project was to develop, in consultation with industry, the new Appropriate Examination Standards that underpin the higher minimum qualification requirements for retail investment advisers. The Professional Standards Advisory Group (PSAG*) acted as the steering group for this project.

FSA Consultation Paper CP10/14 Delivering the RDR June 2010 includes the final list of qualifications for retail investment advisers.

If you require guidance on FSA rules, including Appropriate Exams and how they apply to firms or individuals please contact the FSA directly on 0207 066 0990

* PSAG comprises consumer and practitioner representatives, HM Treasury, trade associations, the Financial Skills Partnership, and relevant professional bodies and awarding organisations
