Sector Skills Agreements (SSAs) are agreements between employers, stakeholders, the Government and partner organisations. They are designed to address the major
skills challenges facing the UK, with this SSA focusing on Wales.

Sector Statistics

In Wales, financial services currently contributes 5% of Wales GDP output and collectively firms employ 35,600 individuals who represent 3% of employment in Wales.

There are around 1800 financial service firms operating within Wales, 75% of which are micro businesses:

The FSSC works closely with a number of partner organisations such as the Welsh Assembly Government, Careers Wales, Higher Education Funding Council Wales, Wales TUC, Universities, Colleges, Schools, Wales Management Council, Federation of Small Business, Institute of Directors, Professional Bodies and Institutes.

Alistair Hudson joined the FSSC in February 2008. He worked for Lloyds TSB Bank for 16 years in a variety of areas including Latin American Trade Finance, International Wealth Management and Correspondent Banking. For two years before joining the FSSC Alistair worked for Ecotec Research and Consulting as a Contract Manager on a portfolio of European Social Fund projects aimed at upskilling the London workforce and encouraging economically inactive Londoners to  learn new skills and rejoin the workforce.  "I am delighted to be working as a relationship Manager at the FSSC," Alistair said, "as the role brings together my years as a banker with my more recent experience in the world of learning and skills".

Paul joined the FSSC in 2006.He has worked for many years as a Senior Development Manager with Friends Provident working in both the IFA and Appointed Representative sectors. This was followed by 2 years with learndirect as a Business Adviser working with businesses to identify training needs and solutions to help improve skills levels within their workforce. Paul has also worked with Financial Services employers,Learning and skills Councils, and Regional Development Agencies to ensure that the Financial Services industry's views are represented in the region.
