
Qualifications
Qualifications are important for gaining employment within the finance service industry and for moving forward within financial services.
Someone taking a qualification which covers financial services may be:
- Working towards employment into financial services
- Already employed in the financial services industry and wishes to update their skills and knowledge in any of the occupations covered by the FSSC
- Working in a different field but wishes to transfer to the financial services industry.
This includes:
- Pre-16 year olds
- School leavers
- Apprentices
- Graduates and post graduates
- New entrants
- Existing workforce
- Returners to work
- Career changes
- Those working in the financial services industry in generic support roles
The Financial Services Skills Council (FSSC) has an important role to play in the development of financial services qualifications for adults and 14-19 year olds. Qualifications available include Professional Qualifications, National/Scottish Vocational Qualifications (N/SVQs), the Diploma, technical certificates and other vocational qualifications.
The FSSC, in partnership with employers, awarding organisations and Government, ensures that qualifications meet the needs of employers and individuals.
