About Financial Services in the Midlands Region

• The Midlands Region covers
• East Midlands – Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire and Rutland, Northamptonshire, and Nottinghamshire
• West Midlands – Birmingham and Solihull, Black Country, Herefordshire and Worcestershire, Shropshire, Staffordshire and Warwickshire.
• Nearly 120,000 people work in financial services in the Midlands region.
• There are over 6000 financial services workplaces in the Midlands.
• 2.7% of total regional employment is in financial services.
• In the West Midlands 57% of the financial sector workforce are employed in banks or building societies. A fifth work in insurance and pension funding and the remainder in operations and supervision.
