Apprenticeships are integrated programmes of learning leading to the acquisition and application of the skills, knowledge and understanding required by employers.
Apprenticeships can improve an organisation’s productivity and profitability and are an effective means of filling skills gaps in current and future workforces. They are available for both new and existing employees.

- The FSSC apprenticeships can help employers meet their T&C requirements and fill skills gaps in the organisation.
- There are currently 255,500 young people on apprenticeships, and over 130,000 businesses offering apprenticeships
- There are over 180 apprenticeships available in more than 80 sectors of industry and commerce
- Over one million young people have taken up an apprenticeship in the ten years since their introduction
New Financial Services Modern Apprenticeship for Scotland
A new Modern Apprenticeship Framework in Providing Financial Services, developed by the Financial Services Skills Council (FSSC), has been approved for use in Scotland.

From the 1st April 2008 AOSGhands over responsibility for Accountancy and related areas to the Financial Services Skills Council. All apprenticeship certification claims should be sent to the Education Administrator, FSSC, 51 Gresham Street, London EC2V 7HQ

All claim forms must be accompanied by payment by cheque or Bacs. Cheques for £30 should be made payable to Financial Services Skills Council. Please make bank payments to - Sort Code: 18-00-02, Account Number: 08377022 and enclose a copy of the remittance advice with the certificate request form. Please note certificates will not be issued until payment is received in full. Certificates will be issued within 6 weeks of receipt.
