Credit Management

National Occupational Standards for Credit Management

The revised National Occupational Standards are accurate reflections of the operational role within credit management and provide a sound basis for user-friendly specifications that could apply to job roles within different organisations.

Background information

In April 2008 we became the Sector Skills Council responsible for accountancy and related occupations, taking over from the Accountancy Occupational Standards Group, the former Standards Setting Body.

As part of this role we are now responsible for the National Occupational Standards for Credit Management. These had last been approved in 2005, although only minor wording changes had been made at that time to the version which had been approved in 2002.

The National Occupational Standards

A major review of these NOS was launched in December 2008, intended to bring the Standards up-to-date in terms of practice and presentation. The final output is designed to be used with the NOS for Accountancy & Finance to form a wide suite to cover accountancy and related occupations.

We consulted on the draft NOS across the UK via a questionnaire which appeared on our website and by focus group events and a series of telephone interviews. We are grateful to all respondents, and we would also like to acknowledge the help of the Institute of Credit Management in this project.

The National Occupational Standards for Credit Management can be downloaded below.

The units can also be downloaded individually from the NOS Directory, at
