The FSP is currently developing listings of recommended examinations and qualifications for Retail Insurance as part of an ongoing programme. This will be provided in 2009 in schedule with industry consultation.


 

Financial Crime

In accordance with section 6(3) of the Act) any kind of criminal conduct relating to money or to financial services or markets, including any offence involving:

  1. fraud or dishonesty; or
  2. misconduct in, or misuse of information relating to, a financial market; or
  3. handling the proceeds of crime;

In this definition, "offence" includes an act or omission which would be an offence if it had taken place in the United Kingdom.

General Insurance

The CII Award in Insurance (Foundation Insurance Test) is an introductory-level study programme developing fundamental knowledge on key topics.

This qualification is suitable for:

  • Anyone wishing to gain a basic understanding of the general insurance market, principles, procedures and products
  • Employees who hold no insurance qualifications but wish to demonstrate insurance knowledge and understanding
  • Employees beginning study for general insurance qualifications
  • Insurance staff employed in support functions such as human resources, marketing, IT and finance, wishing to develop an understanding of the industry in which they work
  • Staff working for an organisation whose primary business is not insurance, but which offers insurance advice and products as part of its overall service to customers
